Travel Information

2023 Summer Eye / Dental Clinic application  

The clinic takes place the week of June 19th.  Given the flight schedules and our desire to have everyone in Guerrero on Monday night, we have two alternatives for our volunteers to arrive in Chihuahua.

Option 1: Monday June 19 - Depart on, or connect with, American Airlines MORNING flight
                                                   From DFW to CUU (AA# 3285 10:25 am to 11:29 am)

Option 2: Sunday June 18 - Depart on, or connect with, American Airlines EVENING flight
                                                  From DFW to CUU (AA# 3004 9:02 pm to 10:02 pm) 

While we normally prefer people to arrive on the Monday morning flight, given the starting location of volunteers, some volunteers might consider travelling on Sunday. While it means an extra night on the road, It increases the odds that everyone will arrive at the clinic on time.

If you are connecting in Dallas, please give yourself more time for the connnection than you would in normal times. I suggest leaving at least 2 hours between flights at DFW to maximize the chance that you make it to your destination without incident. Remember that the drive from the Chihuahua airport is about 2 1/2 hours so you don't want to miss the group transportation on either Sunday night or Monday morning.

Schedule

    Sun or Mon  Arrive in Chihuahua City  (and stay in Chihuahua City if arrving on Sunday). Leave for Guerrero late Monday morning. 

    Mon                Arrive at the clinic in the afternoon. Get oriented. Prepare the clinic. Start seeing a limited number of patients so that there are surgery patients

                            waiting for the surgeons on Tuesday morning.

    Tue - Fri         Work days - See patients. Refractions, Surgeries, Laser Treatments, and Manufacture Glasses . Other medical specialties as available.

    Sat                  Post-Ops in morning. Depart for Chihuahua City. Tour, shop, relax at hotel, and dinner in Chihuahua City. Overnight in Chihuahua City. (Depart

                            for the US in the afternoon if the option is available)

    Sun                 Depart for the U.S

The application must be submitted before payment is made.

Payment must be made before any hotel or airline reservations are made (see notes for requirements).

A confirmation email/invoice is generated and emailed to you when you submit your application.
